This fantastic antique 1920s Persian rug is not playing around. Measuring 6’2 x 13’6, it’s a wild size that can stretch down a wide hallway, define a living room, or bring some personality into a grand entry. Its navy blue ground is packed with an endless garden of floral motifs, framed by spandrels with more blooms on a warm wheat backdrop.
The border keeps things lively with classic turtle motifs set against ivory, pulling the whole piece together with a strong yet playful structure. Color-wise, it’s a feast with plum, teal green, hot coral, faint Dijon-tan, aqua blue, burgundy, hunter green, ivory, army green, and soft pink all make an appearance, layered in that naturally rich way only handwoven vegetable dyed wool can deliver.
The pile is low and the wear is scattered, but that only shows off its amazing aged character. It is stout and solid. It showcases a gorgeous patina, and was woven beautifully with quality construction and tight weave, and still has plenty of years of service ahead.
