A full bodied tribal Northwest Persian beauty with a little more restraint in the palette and movement. This mid-century Gharajeh, also known as Karaja, measures 4 x 10'8 and exudes the classic powerful village drawing the region is known for. Stacked geometric medallions, angular floral forms, and strong tribal symmetry all throughout the rug and it's powerful elements cannot be missed.
The color story feels beautifully settled with age too. Soft terracotta reds, faded walnut browns, warm ivory, and some hits of teal blue green everywhere. You can see the natural gradient shifts in the dyes throughout the field where the dyes mellowed over decades of life and use. That variation is the good stuff. The part perhaps machine made rugs will never figure out.
Heavy duty with a substantial feel underfoot and a healthy compact pile. Some small areas along the sides were masterfully restored over time and blend beautifully into the rug’s story. Please see detailed pics.
This is a hard working rug of old runner that will give life to the hallway, kitchen or grand entry. It has depth, warmth, and great durability. At excellent value! Thanks for shopping small and please check out the video below for more rug action.
