An antique Sarouk runner from Persia, circa 1920 to 1930. Sarouks are known for their plush, luxurious wool and their staying power. This one is hand knotted with high grade wool on a cotton foundation, and it has pile you can actually feel. Not flat. Not tired. There is substance here.
The field glows in that saturated raspberry red with scrolling floral sprays climbing and blooming from end to end. Deep navy, soft ivory, hints of green.
She is skinny… and that matters. Finding old runners with this narrow proportion is not easy. It makes her incredibly versatile for tight hallways, galley kitchens, bedside moments, or layered in unexpected places.
There is a bit of wear at one end and scattered age related wear throughout, but the construction is solid and ready for generations more. Heavy duty for a smaller rug. Durable. Ready to take on real life.
