Hand knotted in the 1920s in the mountain villages of northwest Persia, this little treasure features a gorgeous geometric medallion surrounded by stylized tribal artwork, angular botanical forms, and charming animal motifs throughout the field. Every glance reveals another small detail, making it a rug that continues to reward the eye.
Its vegetable dyed wool has aged with beautiful character. Rich brick reds and coral with deep navy, camel, aqua blue, and soft sky blue. It exhibits a palette that feels vibrant yet wonderfully settled after a century of life.
The weave is dense, sturdy, and built for generations of everyday living. It displays awesome scattered wear earned through a century of life, giving it the kind of soulful patina that simply cannot be manufactured. This is an excellent choice for an entryway, kitchen, office, hallway, or any high-traffic area where a durable antique rug with plenty of personality is desired.
At one point during its long life, a previous caretaker thoughtfully had all four edges professionally bound. This preservation measure helped protect the perimeter from future fraying and has allowed the rug to remain structurally sound and ready for many more years of enjoyment. It speaks to how treasured this rug has been throughout its lifetime.
Small in size but overflowing with character, this unusual Heriz offers a beautiful blend of color, tribal art, and history woven with the very best, vegetable dyed wool.
