Glowing Mohajeran Sarouk from the 1930s and she means business…
This beauty is heavy at the handle, densely woven, and packed with lush, nicely maintained pile that still feels generous underfoot. The wool is saturated in those classic berry tones Sarouk lovers chase forever…deep raspberry reds layered with inky navy, soft hints of blush, and warm accents that make the entire field hum. The floral sprays are abundant and confident, blooming across the surface.
Mohajeran Sarouks are considered some of the finest of the Sarouk family. Woven in the Arak region of Persia, these rugs are known for their superb wool quality, rich vegetable dyes, and substantial weight. They were often produced for export in the early 20th century, especially to the American market, which is why so many 1930s examples carry that saturated berry ground and enduring structure. They were made to last…stout foundations, resilient knots, and wool that seems to age in the most graceful way.
This one is in excellent condition, beautifully piled, and full of glow. Clean, strong, and ready for a lifetime more. A true heirloom weight Persian with presence and heart.
She's a heavyweight champ for a little rug!
