This amazing antique Caucasian rug steals the show with its bold, graphic look and deep, saturated colors. It's an antique Shirvan, from c.1900 and it's a little firecracker.
Navy field packed with tidy garden bouquets arranged in regimented rows, each tiny shrub built from madder reds, straw gold, soft celadon, and indigo. The rhythm of the repeats gives the piece a lively, almost beaded movement…your eye marches row by row, then circles back through the crisp borders: a green diamond-chain, a charming talisman band, and an outer lattice with warm yellow notes that glow against the dark ground.
Vegetable-dyed wool with vibrant, well-aged color. Low, even pile; supple, floppy handle that drapes over the arm like cloth, the classic Shirvan feel. Woven on a stout foundation, in good condition for its age and ready for real life underfoot. Small rug…big personality.
Low pile, floppy handle. Vegetable dyed wool.
