This little heirloom is quite eye-catching. As a small antique Persian rug, she shows up in big ways, dressed in coral - pink with highly decorative art. Persian Malayer rugs come from a region between the major weaving areas of Hamadan and Sarouk, in Persia. Malayer and the surrounding villages produced some of the most ornate weavings. At the finer levels, each Malayer Oriental carpet is distinct, the weavers having drawn on a large pool of designs, investing much originality in their creation.
The art of this design is quite original with each of the motifs independently shining. It has low pile wool that has naturally aged and it has great construction that even with scattered wear - this antique rug will be stout and sturdy and you can style it in a high traffic area. Woven circa 1920.
