This small antique 1900s Persian Shiraz rug is a beautiful example of the skilled craftsmanship of the village weavers from Shiraz, Persia. This beauty features delicate flower motifs in the center of the main field, set against a rich, earthy brown background. Flanking these floral designs are intricate animal motifs that sit against a deep, moody blue ground. The border is adorned with the traditional tribal ram's horn motif, symbolizing strength and masculinity.
This gem is 100% wool, handwoven with wool dyed from natural resources such as vegetables, roots, and plants that give the wool its vibrant, lasting colors. The abrash, a natural phenomenon that occurs when a new batch of dyed wool is introduced during the weaving process, adds a uniqueness that can’t be duplicated.
The rug has a soft, floppy handle, adding to its charm. Clean and secured all around, it has been lovingly worn through time, enhancing its character and timeless appeal. Will ship with a pad on the house to keep this little gem nice and snug.
