Small Tribal Lesghi Art Caucasian Rug / 3'4 x 5'4 Kazak Rug #4400

Regular price $1,650.00

This late 19th Century Caucasian Kazak features powerful Lesghi art, defined by strong geometry and time softened color.

Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, the palette has settled into brick red, deep navy, ivory, muted teal, and earthy green tones that feel calm and well balanced. The pile is low and nicely worn, giving the surface a relaxed, lived in texture that feels good to look at. It lays flat and reads visually grounded, with wear that adds depth and character.

The field features stacked geometric medallions, each rendered with subtle variation, a hallmark of Lesghi design. These motifs are framed by rhythmic borders filled with angular symbols and repeating forms, creating structure while still allowing movement across the surface. The hand of the weaver is present throughout, with slight irregularities that make the rug feel personal and one of a kind.

Kazak rugs from the Caucasus were village weavings, made for daily life and long use. Known for their durable wool and straightforward construction, these rugs were built to last, and this piece reflects that history even in its worn state.

Nicely aged, visually grounded, and full of history.
An old rug that shows its life in all the right ways.
