Small but seriously mighty.
This 1920s Persian Bidjar is the definition of compact power. Often called the iron rug, Bidjars are famous for their insanely dense construction…and this one absolutely lives up to the reputation. It’s meaty, heavy, and packed with luxe wool, woven so tightly it almost feels sculpted rather than knotted. You can put this rug anywhere. High traffic, pets, daily life, real living…it can take it.
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, the pile is thick, resilient, and almost springy underfoot. The handle tells the whole story…solid, weighty, and confidence inspiring. This is the kind of rug that doesn’t shift, curl, or complain. Really and truly, it'll take all the abuse you give it and still love on you.
The design is spacious and expressive, with bold, organic forms that feel architectural but still fluid. There’s a beautiful sense of movement and breath in the layout…motifs feel grounded yet dynamic, giving the rug presence without visual clutter. Rich earthy rusty-reds anchor the field, layered with deep blues, soft ivories, mossy greens, and warm golden accents that glow against the background. The border frames everything with strength and rhythm, keeping the composition balanced and intentional.
Bidjar rugs come from a mountainous region of western Persia where weavers were known to wet the wool before knotting, packing it down so tightly that the rugs became famously indestructible. These were heirloom pieces from the start…made to last generations.
Perfect for entryways, kitchens, offices, or anywhere you want a smaller rug that works as hard as it looks good. Abuse it. Love it. Live on it.
