This rug is a prime example of authentic, small-batch tribal art from the weaving communities near the Black Caspian Sea, just north of Persia. What does that mean? Major abrash. You can see how the weaver changed between different dye lots of the vegetable dyed wool, creating awesome color shifts that are so evident, pure and telling of its handmade and labor intensive nature; it's a gorgeous feature and so lovely to see.
The antique Caucasian scatter rugs is low pile and has about 140 years of life, but trust that this antique still has plenty of life to give. Be sure to check the pics for the full condition and unique character. Because of its worn nature, it might not be the best choice for your busiest, kick-off-your-boots-at-the-door entryway, but it will work beautifully almost anywhere else in your home. Just grab a pad for it to keep it with grip, because this is a lighter weight piece that would be great well grounded.
