A special scatter rug from circa 1880 that belonged to one person who most likely wove it and carried it with himself or herself daily as it is a symbolic prayer rug for his or her prayer rituals. It features a Mihrab on the art, and when praying, this rug would be facing the Mecca.
All natural, vegetable dyed wool with a diamond lattice design in the field. It was originally woven in the Caucasus mountains, north of Persia. This prayer rug is worn and with 100% wool; it has a soft and floppy handle. It has been professionally washed and also given some TLC to help restore with a few patches. Please see pics for full condition, character and details.
This rug will ship with a custom cut pad on the house to help keep this old beauty nice and snug.
