There is something undeniably charming about a beautifully worn village Malayer rug. They are highly decorative and full of charm. Hand knotted in northwest Persia circa 1910, this antique Persian Malayer is woven with wonderfully soft vegetable-dyed wool in a lovely palette of faded blush, dusty coral, muted teal, warm camel, and deep espresso brown. The pops of teal throughout the design bring wonderful life to the rug while the blush field is gentle and ever so settling. It's the magic of old world wool and vegetable dyes.
Stylized blossoms, leafy vines, and floral medallions unfold down the length of the rug, giving it movement with amazing character and relaxed charm. The wool has worn naturally over the last century, creating a wonderfully soft patina that only genuine age can produce. Every faded area and softened color contributes to its soulful appearance.
Its smaller size makes it incredibly versatile. It would be beautiful beside a bed, welcoming guests in an entryway, warming up a powder room, layered in a kitchen, or tucked beneath a favorite reading chair. Wherever it lands, it brings history, warmth, and that unmistakable beauty and soul. While it is worn, it still will handle life and continue to serve.
