Worn Persian Scatter Rug / 3x4 Persian Afshar Rug #3168

Regular price $1,080.00

This antique Afshar rug showcases heritage, and serious tribal character. Woven by Afshar weavers using vegetable dyed wool, it dates to the late 19th to early 20th century and carries the strong, graphic language this tribe is known for. Afshar rugs come from a nomadic group originally tied to southern and southeastern Persia, and their work tends to be powerful rather than polished…dense motifs, confident geometry, and designs that feel purposeful and grounded.

The palette here is quite earthy with inky navy, warm rust, soft apricot tones, and quiet touches of camel and sand. The central medallion anchors the piece, surrounded by angular floral and tribal elements that feel almost architectural. The border work is especially good, loaded with repeated motifs that give the rug rhythm and movement.

This rug has visible wear consistent with age and real life use. There is a couple tiny holes with loss of wool, shown clearly, along with areas of low pile and thinning. Nothing is hidden here. The wear does not take away from the structure or the visual impact, but it does mean this piece is best suited for someone who appreciates character, history, and a rug that has lived a full life. It works beautifully as floor art, in a lower traffic space, or even hung where the design can be appreciated up close. This low pile Persian is 100% through and through, on the pile and foundation. It is raw and real, with a floppy handle.

This is not a perfect rug, and that’s exactly the point. It’s a soulful, tribal Afshar with real age, real wool, and a story woven straight into it.
