If you like them worn and steeped in character, this old Persian is one that sings. The robust and wide borders help date this shabby chic Persian runner back to the late 19th century. Within the border, you'll find turtle motifs sitting on a naturally aged brick-rust ground. The antique ivory field is quite narrow compared to other antique runners you'll find...and that's just another part of the charm of this piece.
Within, you'll find beautiful moments of light blue and a water garden design (more formally known to collectors as the Herati design). This runner has a floppy handle, is timeworn yet fully intact, and is a bit of a rarer style of Persian Mahal, specifically Sultanabad. These are a little different from the more common Mahals found in the world and stand out from the crowd.
Put this beauty in a quieter spot and not in the kitchen runway area, as she has seen a lot of life and will serve better in a less trafficked spot. She's wide and generous at 4'2 x 9'4 and will truly ground a space with a great deal of soul and history. Handwoven with vegetable-dyed wool.
