An antique Persian Malayer rug from the early 1900s, spun from hands long gone, but still here ready for its next chapter. A village piece, woven with a warm red ground tucked under buttery yellows, minty greens, and cool blues in a playful pattern. The border bands include a ribbon-like motif that symbolize the life-giving force of water and its importance in the weaver’s life.
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, the colors have mellowed over time, gracing it with a lovely patina. Although there is some scattered wear, threads have softened, creating the kind of character only time can bestow. This gem of a rug is stable, firm in its purpose, and will last another generation.
Will ship with a pad on the house to keep this little gem nice and snug.
