A worn antique runner from the tribal weavers of the Caucasus, woven circa 1880–1900. The navy blue ground carries a steady rhythm of small, repeating tribal motifs inspired by nature. There’s a quiet order to them, softened by age, wear, and a century of footsteps. The vegetable dyed wool has mellowed into that deep, inky and aqua blue that only old rugs achieve, with rust, brick red, coral, maroon, pistachio, teal, faint yellow, chocolate brown, camel, and ivory woven throughout in a way that feels earthy and grounded.
The ivory border is especially beautiful…continuous movement wrapping the runner from end to end. It‘s rhythmic. The runner here is not perfectly straight. It gently widens and narrows, reminding you it was made by human hands, not a machine. That organic shift is part of its charm and part of its truth.
Low wool pile throughout with scattered wear that tells its story openly. Wool foundation, built for life and lived accordingly. The raw fringes are intact and gorgeous…soft, uneven, and full of character, like loose threads of history trailing behind it.
This is a runner that doesn’t try to be pristine. It shows its age with grace. Raw, authentic, and deeply expressive…a piece that brings texture, soul, and quiet power to a space. Of good length and ready for a new chapter of life.
